To truly embrace the cloud, you must do more than simply deploy existing applications to a virtualized infrastructure: you must think, design, and architect differently. This session examines some of the fundamental and somewhat radical departures in system design when we apply the "sharding paradigm" to traditional middleware. As examples, it discusses how sharding is influencing the way we design enterprise products such as GlassFish, Oracle WebLogic, and Oracle Service Bus, together with the underlying services that may be available to regular developers building enterprise-class systems in the applications in the future. This is a lovely leaked Telegram ICO promotional trailer narrated by Kurzegast voice Steve Taylor. Find all the information on https://telegram.org/ Leaked PDF Whitepaper - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ucUeKg_NiR8RxNAonb8Q55jZha03WC0O/view No official announcments have been made so far from telegram about an upcoming ICO. Telegram, an app with over 180 Million users and growing 500,000 people daily, will be releasing their own blockchain that can run millions of transactions per second. ( Visa does only 10,000 ) The Telegram Open Network "TON" will also act as an app platform that can host thousands of applications. in 2018, over 200 million people will already be using the TON blockchain. TON The Next Bitcoin?!? Telegram ICO $1.2 Billion About Telegram Open Network TON Blockchain At the core of the platform is the TON Blockchain — a scalable and flexible blockchain architecture5 that consists of a master chain and up to 292 accompanying blockchains. Below are some notable design choices that allow the TON Blockchain to process millions of transactions per second. Infinite Sharding Paradigm To achieve scalability, TON has built-in support for sharding: TON blockchains can automatically split and merge to accommodate changes in load. This means that new blocks are always generated quickly and the absence of long queues helps keep transaction costs low, even if some of the services using the platform become massively popular. Instant Hypercube Routing TON blockchains use smart routing mechanisms to ensure that transactions between any two blockchains will always be processed swiftly, regardless of the size of the system. The time needed to pass information between TON blockchains grows logarithmically with their number, so scaling to even millions of chains will allow them all to communicate at top speed. Proof-of-Stake Approach TON uses a Proof-of-Stake approach in which processing nodes («validators») deposit stakes to guarantee their dependability and reach consensus through a variant of the Byzantine Fault Tolerant protocol. This allows TON to focus the computing power of its nodes on handling transactions and smart contracts, further increasing speed and efficiency. 2-D Distributed Ledgers TON can «grow» new valid blocks on top of any blocks that were proven to be incorrect to avoid unnecessary forks. This self-healing mechanism saves resources and guarantees that valid transactions will not be discarded due to unrelated errors. TON Platform As a multi-blockchain project, TON requires sophisticated network protocols — such as the TON P2P Network used to access the TON blockchains6 — that can be reused to give a significant boost in flexibility to the platform. The following components are scheduled to be released after the TON Blockchain core and will further increase the potential uses of the TON infrastructure. https://www.g2a.com/r/tarantulo - Buy cheap Steam games here that is a place where I buy all my games :) You can even sell you spare games here. 1 skyscraper. 6 women. No permission. http://savethearctic.org Music: "Dissolve Me", generously supplied by Alt-J, supporters of the movement to save the Arctic. At 4:20 in the morning, 11 July 2013, six climbers began a 15 hour climb of Europe's tallest building, the Shard, to send a message to the headquarters of oil giant Shell. This behind-the-scenes film captures the months-long build-up to the climb and the first hair-raising moments when things didn't go to plan. The climb was live-streamed from the activists' helmet cameras in a ground-breaking digital campaign roll-out that represented a "new paradigm", according to leading PR advisor Solitaire Townsend. A live audio commentary overlaid the footage for the whole day -- with Greenpeace presenters interviewing experts and taking comments from as far away as New Zealand (Xena actress Lucy Lawless called in to the show). #Iceclimb trended globally on Twitter and at one point six of the top ten trending topics in the UK were about the protest. In the last 30 years we've lost 75% of the Arctic sea ice volume. And as the ice melts, Shell and other oil companies want to drill there for more oil. Burning that oil only accelerates the melt. It is up to us to stop Shell's dangerous and destructive plans. The climbers: Ali Garrigan, 27 (UK), Liesbeth Deddens, 31 (Netherlands), Sabine Huyghe, 33 (Belgium), Sandra Lamborn, 29 (Sweden), Victoria Henry, 32 (Canada), Wiola Smul, 23 (Poland). BIG news from the messaging app Telegram App as they are planning a HISTORIC ICO. Do you think they can raise $1.2 Billion? Transcript: Hello, everyone. Today is Wednesday, January 10th. I am Dom, and this is the Blockchain Minute. The biggest news out of the Blockchain today has to be the story that was first reported by Mike Butcher and Josh Constine of Tech Crunch on Monday night about the messaging app Telegram and their plan for a historic ICO. CoinDesk is reporting Telegram is seeking to raise 1.2 Billion. Yes, you heard that right, I said billion with a b. 1.2 billion dollars with a goal in presale of $500-$600 million dollars and the other 600-700 million to be offered publically. In a move that Kyle Samani of Multicoin Capital called "Elon Musk level ambition" to Coindesk, they will sell the new crypto called "grams" to fund the proposed Telegram Open Network or TON. TON will radically decentralize online communication and peer to peer payments, using the 180 million users of Telegram to move crypto payments into mainstream adoption. According to a 132-page white paper that other people have read and summarized, there are four main stages of the plan. - “TON Services” a platform for third-party services of any kind that enables smartphone like friendly interfaces for decentralized apps and smart contracts. “TON DNS” is a service for assigning human-readable names to accounts, smart contracts services and network nodes. “TON Payments” is a platform for micropayments and a micropayment channel network. The “TON Blockchain” That will look to shorten queues and reduce fees thanks to something called the “Infinite Sharding Paradigm.” Almost all of the ICO chatter nowadays happens on Telegram so while this number is massive, I would not be surprised if they were able to secure a significant portion of this. That is all for today, make sure to share this video on twitter and FB and leave a comment letting me know what YOU think of the Telegram ICO, and I will see you all tomorrow!

Jane King interviews the PascalCoin Foundation team, CEO Herman Schoenfeld, COO John Macpherson & Founder Albert Molina "Innovators with Jane King" profiles tech companies and thought leaders in the space. We're showing you a glimpse of the future. Program Sponsor: Templum, Inc. https://www.templuminc.com/ PascalCoin https://www.pascalcoin.org/ PascalCoin is an instant, zero-fee, infinitely scalable, and decentralized cryptocurrency with advanced privacy and smart contract capabilities. Enabled by the SafeBox technology to become the world's first blockchain independent of historical operations, PascalCoin possesses unlimited potential. PascalCoin is an innovative cryptocurrency that extends the blockchain paradigm PascalCoin was launched 100% fairly in late 2016 without any ICO or premine. PascalCoin is capable of unprecedented scalability suitable for planetary-scale adoption with a theoretical limit of 72,000 TPS. It is the first and only multi-purposed, decentralized cryptocurrency to manage this especially with zero fee. A simple account number (e.g. 1000-84) could also be associated with an account name in the form of an email, domain name or any other label. Payments never have been easier. PascalCoin’s powerful architecture lays the foundation for large-scale, infinitely scalable smart contracts in the form of Layer-2 protocols. PascalCoin's architecture also allows for comprehensive privacy including zk-SNARKs without sacrificing its infinite scalability. PascalCoin introduces a revolutionary, low-memory GPU- and ASIC-resistant hash algorithm called Random Hash. This CPU-native algorithm reinvents mining decentralization by combining hash primitives in a highly serial manner in conjunction with a branch-heavy and recursive implementation. PascalCoin achieves all this by introducing a new cryptographic data-structure known as the SafeBox which functions as a dynamic ledger of all account balances. The SafeBox complements the blockchain in a way that allows the blockchain history to be deleted as an option while retaining its full cryptographic security. The SafeBox also in effect removes any blockchain memory bloat, a universal problem for all other blockchains' full nodes. This paves the way for true decentralization.

7 PM EST The Kitchen is pleased to present Bad New Days: Art, Criticism, Emergency; a reading and book signing by Hal Foster with interlocutor Tim Griffin. Bad New Days: Art, Criticism, Emergency by Hal Foster examines the evolution of art and criticism in Western Europe and North America over the last 25 years, and their dynamic relation to the general condition of emergency instilled by neoliberalism and the war on terror. Considering the work of artists such as Thomas Hirschhorn, Tacita Dean, and Isa Genzken, and the writing of thinkers like Jacques Rancière, Bruno Latour, and Giorgio Agamben, Hal Foster shows the ways in which art has anticipated this condition, at times resisting the collapse of the social contract or gesturing toward its repair; at other times burlesquing it. Against the claim that art making has become so heterogeneous as to defy historical analysis, Foster argues that the critic must still articulate a clear account of the contemporary in all its complexity. To that end, he offers several paradigms for the art of recent years, which he terms “abject,” “archival,” “mimetic,” and “precarious.” Hal Foster is Townsend Martin Professor of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University and a 2014–15 fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. A co-editor of October magazine and books, he is the editor of The Anti-Aesthetic and the author of Design and Crime, Recodings, The Return of the Real, Compulsive Beauty and The Art-Architecture Complex. Verso Books—the left-hand page—was launched as a paperback imprint of New Left Books at the end of the seventies. Since becoming NLB’s sole imprint, Verso Books has grown to be the largest independent, radical publishing house in the English-speaking world, publishing one hundred books a year. http://thekitchen.org/event/hal-foster-bad-new-days

Lol tips 2016 dodging skillshots: Dodging skillshots by sidestepping is something that a lot of players have a hard time doing. In this short video I'm going to show you a really simple habit that you should start doing when being chased by a champion with a skillshot. If you enjoyed this video consider subscribing :). Direction-targeting aka skillshots is a targeting paradigm in League of Legends that specifies that abilities using it require an input direction to be used. The term skillshot is often used to refer to projectile-based direction-targeted abilities, such as Ezreal Ezreal's Mystic Shot. Where this targeting type is differentiated from ground-targeting is that these abilities interact with the entire length of the ability's range, rather than a specified destination within range. Most direction-targeted abilities have effects the travel along a line of effect (in the case of projectiles and dashes), and these may interact with each applicable unit hit (referred to as pass-through effects) or with only the first unit hit (collision effects). However, some direction-targeted abilities will affect the entire area at once (predominantly cones). A direction-targeted ability does not need to originate from the caster, as with the case of Orianna Orianna's Command- Attack.png Command: Attack. Whether or not a direction-targeted ability deals area of effect (such as Lissandra Lissandra's Ice Shard.png Ice Shard) does not affect the targeting classification. Direction-targeted abilities are divided into subsets based on the scope of the area of effect they occupy. Almost all direction-targeted abilities in League of Legends are of a linear (rectangular, the ones often referred to as skill shots) or conic shape with the only known exceptions being Diana Diana's Crescent Strike.png Crescent Strike, which is curved, and Aatrox Aatrox's Blades of Torment.png Blades of Torment, which is reverse-conic. A few abilities may be combinations of both where two or more linear skillshots are combined to form a cone, such as Ashe Ashe's Volley. Useful article: http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/26/the-summoners-guidebook-improving-our-skillshot-dodging-skills/ Although the term "skillshot" was a new word for me when I started playing League of Legends, the concept of avoidable attacks is something that is very intuitive for even novice gamers. Skillshot is just a fancy term that roughly means "dodgable attack" in MOBA games. Although the official terminology sometimes differentiates between ground-targeted AoE and true skillshots (which are generally projectiles or groups of projectiles), that distinction is not really necessary for us. If it can be evaded, we'll call it a skillshot. Dodging skillshots is something that is fairly easy to develop skill for. It takes only a little bit of mental effort to dramatically improve your ability to evade them. It's also a skill that can always be improved with practice. We can always react to them faster or predict them more reliably. This makes it a good area to improve on because we can always get better.

Presented by Ethereum Foundation Viktor Tron. Inspired by state channels, SWARM introduces a secure and scalable off-chain framework to support generic incentive systems playfully called 'swap, swear and swindle' games. The system relies on three pillars: communication, registration, and enforcement.(1) Peers engage in a local exchange (p2p communication) of data, promises, payments, messages, requests, deliveries etc. (swap) Peers will relay data between remote non-connected nodes to extend the scope of the network.(2) Participants pay a security deposit to a smart contract to back their promise of delivery and quality guarantees (swear) (3) Rules of service provision are enforced by a courtroom making nodes accountable in case of non-compliance (swindle). SWARM shows how the paradigm can be implemented in a modular way using very simple building blocks and yet serve as robust base layer infrastructure driving complex decentralized service economies. -- Filmed at Ethereum London - October 2017 by Matteo Giachetti (http://matteogiachetti.com/) Follow us on twitter #ETHLDN https://www.meetup.com/ethereum/ https://twitter.com/hashtag/ethldn

It is no secret that cyber offense nirvana boils down to building secure devices and applications which are not riddled with vulnerabilities. However, most cybersecurity practitioners feel unable to change the current environment of ‘functionality and price over security’ given their distance from the engineering process. During this important discussion, experts will discuss why security-by-design is such an important topic, and share their ideas on what we as a community can do to advance this important cause and change the current paradigm. More here: http://samvak.tripod.com/nm017.html Cryptocurrencies represent a major foundational revolution whose full implications are yet to be grasped. They challenge the paradigms underlying both the central banks’ money monopoly and public digital goods. Cryptoassets are digital goods, but they are scarce: they require “mining” and the total number of units in limited. Consequently, cryptoassets such as cryptocurrencies are rivlarous (there is a marginal cost associated with producing additional units) and excludable (access to and ownership of the cryptoasset is restricted). Blockchain technologies are to transactions what TCP/IP is to connections: they offer distributed, redundant, and autonomous self-updating, propagated, time-stamped, linked, irreversible, consensus-driven (polled), and smart (self-executing) electronic ledgers. Blockchain technologies present the first feasible solutions to counterfeiting, security policies, identity management, auditing, real-time transacting, mobile and micropayments, scarcity management, monetizing intangibles, crowdsourcing, record keeping, and a host of other hitherto intractable bottlenecks in business and finance. Blockchain technologies seamlessly interface across private, consortium, and public networks. The risks are as big as the promises and the rewards: from asset bubbles to money laundering, the financing of terrorism, cryptojacking, and threatening the foundations of the financial value chain. These threats are amplified by the recent introduction of exchange-traded bitcoin derivatives (options and futures), ETFs and mutual and hedge funds which invest in cryptoassets, and sovereign cryptocurrencies (e.g. in Russia, Sweden, Venezuela), thereby granting putative future access and price-setting privileges and power to financial institutions and commodifying the underlying assets. The technology used by first generation cryptoassets is slow because transactions are processed serially and with a block size of 1 Mb. Blockchains are far slower than relational databases. Emerging solutions such as sharding, layering, and BaaS (Blockchain as a Service) may compromise the safety of the blockchain and render it hackable. QBit (quantum computing) with a block size of 2 Mb may be the solution. These risks are also attendant upon new approaches to coinage such as minting (instead of mining) and proof of stake (instead of proof of work with a target value). Current software is also buggy. Ethereum, for example, lacks a decimal point (for self-executing scripts). Once blockchains become mainstream, centralized control is likely to render them more hackable. Regrettably, the technology is anarchically fragmented with not a hint of impending standardization. The main concern, though, is the fact that cryptocurrencies, though they do store value as investment vehicles, failed to become accepted means of exchange. In the absence of this crucial function, they are bound to wither and then vanish in a speculative boom and bust. One possible solution would be to link cryptoassets to crowdfunding as its main form of “money”. Cryptocurrencies are actually crowdsourced and the underlying blockchain technology would introduce rigorous fraud control beyond the current rather flimsy peer-review cum peer-pressure mechanisms in place in P2P financing.
